Hello, my name is Mahshid Hager. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences in California (License# 47458). I received my Masters of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University. I am also a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and use this mind-body approach to treat symptoms of trauma and build resiliency.

I have worked in the field of mental health, in a number of settings in San Diego County, since 1998.

I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).

Personal Statement

My experience includes working with a diverse population throughout San Diego County and treating symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship challenges, children's behavior problems and parenting issues.

I have worked with children, teenagers, adults, families and blended families. I use a systemic approach to therapy in which clients learn to recognize patterns and develop new coping strategies that encourage communication and allow growth.

Through Somatic Experiencing, I have become more focused on working with individuals who have suffered varying degrees of trauma. SE is a body awareness approach to therapy. I have become a strong believer in the human body's innate ability to overcome past trauma. Through this approach I can teach you to self-regulate and become more relaxed and more present in your life. For more information on Somatic Experiencing, please contact me or click on the link provided below under Resources.

I was born in Iran and raised in Germany. I am fluent in Farsi and German. My background gives me the advantage of being mindful and understanding of the powerful cultural and ethnic issues my clients may be facing.

I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
